From Smoke to Smooth Operation: Thornbury Gate Restoration Success!

I recently had the pleasure of assisting a client from Thornbury with their slide gate, which was powered by an 8-year-old VDS motor. The motor had started to fail, operating intermittently until one day it smoked and stopped working entirely. Previous technicians had advised replacing the motor, quoting over $1000 for the new motor and installation.

Fortunately, the client reached out to me based on a recommendation from a friend whose gate I serviced a few months ago. Upon inspecting the motor, it was evident that the previous technicians hadn't thoroughly examined it—there were snails and cobwebs under the motor's cover!

After a meticulous cleaning, I released and lubricated the jammed override lever, replaced the capacitor, and installed new limit switches. I'm delighted to report that the motor is now back to life and should serve reliably for another 8 years. The total cost for the service, including parts, was just $250!

With the money saved from avoiding an unnecessary motor replacement, the client decided to enhance their gate system by adding a safety beam sensor and a Wi-Fi gate opener for added convenience and security.
